Mars Stations Direct at 17 Cancer

During these chaotic times, have you been wanting to take action, but at the same time, feeling frozen in place or unsure how to go about it? You may start to feel unstuck as transiting Mars stations direct on February 23.

Mars is the planet of action, drive, assertion, motivation, and desire. It goes retrograde once every 22 or 24 months. Most recently, it stationed retrograde on December 4, 2024, at 6 degrees of Leo, and then headed back into Cancer.

While Mars is retrograde, taking action can feel like a frustrating slog, like nothing falls into place and we just can’t get things moving. There’s a plus side to Mars retrograde, however: its invitation is to take a pause, reflect on our efforts, and recalibrate our energy. And with Mars in Cancer, there’s a focus on rest, healing, and emotional connection.

As Mars stations direct, it starts to pick up speed, and we can take action on the things we (ideally) reflected upon during Mars retrograde. You may feel reinvigorated and energized, like you’re no longer held back and can make progress on your goals.

If so, awesome! But it’s a good idea to give Mars a few days to sort out its energy before diving into a project, as things can be a little contentious as it stations. During this time, take stock of anything you’ve learned since December 4th.

Be open to gentle clues or nudges from the universe that may be guiding you towards a particular path.

Some good questions to ponder include:

• What have you been struggling to get off the ground, and is it still aligned for you?

• What’s worth your time and energy?

• Where do you consciously choose to focus your efforts?
