Taurus New Moon: Ground Yourself Amid the Change

Slow Down and Act With Intention

This weekend’s New Moon (Sunday, April 27 at 12:31 p.m. PDT, at 7 degrees 46 minutes of Taurus) is unlikely to bring relief from the recent turbulence we've been experiencing, as it’s packing some serious energy!

On its own, the New Moon in Taurus would love for us to luxuriate in the simple pleasures of life during springtime: to be in nature, ground into our bodies, and enjoy delicious food. It’s a good time to slow down and trust our inner guidance.

But this particular New Moon is in a tense T-square aspect with Mars and Pluto, which are opposing each other this weekend in the fixed signs of Leo and Aquarius. This is the third Mars-Pluto opposition in the past few months: we had one on November 3, and another on January 3. We’re coming to the end of a journey that we started in early November of 2024. What has your personal journey looked like since that time? What lessons have you learned, and how can you apply them going forward?

Mars-Pluto oppositions are challenging aspects of conflict that we may see play out in the public sphere around this time. So be careful and avoid unnecessary confrontations if you can. Everyone is experiencing these transits, and people may be tense, frustrated, and angrier than usual.

On a personal level, Mars-Pluto oppositions tend to show up as conflicts between our conscious and unconscious desires, and between our drive to act and the fears and compulsions that hold us back. With the Sun and Moon squaring this opposition, the vibe is definitely not chill. We’re being asked to recognize the limits of our personal power, to break out of patterns that keep us stuck, and to transform. This may feel stressful or intense, but it also provides us with the opportunity to consider what’s most important to us, and to let go of what’s not.

The New Moon is ruled by Venus, which is in Pisces and conjunct Saturn and the North Node. This conjunction invites us to commit to living in accordance with our values and to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones.

Some questions you may wish to consider at the time of the New Moon include:

  • What am I passionately driven to do?

  • Who or what am I devoted to, and how can I honor that devotion?

  • Are my actions aligned with my core values?

  • What practices can I cultivate to stay grounded and peaceful amid changing circumstances, while resisting the urge to stay stagnant?

This New Moon will feel most impactful to those of us with planets or sensitive points in the early degrees of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius).

If you’d like to discuss how this energy may be impacting you specifically, feel free to book a reading and we can discuss!
